Here are some Bios on current SJBHL players:
Bill Brooks (AKA - Billy Brooks, B-squared, and "Damn That Bill Brooks!") - 2003 Bud Light Bubble Boy Doubles Play Pennsylvania State Champion and National Finalist. Multi-time South Jersey Bubble Hockey League (SJBHL) Champion. Maybe THE nicest bubbler on the planet, and by far one of the best. He beats you 8-1 and apologizes after goals and offers tips and pointers on how to do better. Though for a nice guy, we joke "no one likes him!" because he flat out is that good. No bubblin' weaknesses at all - does everything well, and he adds new moves into his arsenal all the time. That can't be good for the rest of us...
Brian Nelson (AKA DJ Wheels, B-Dawg) - Solid all around bubble game, rarely beats himself, usually one of the most consistent players in the league, has good overall table hockey skills to go with his ever increasing bubble knowledge. Touch match-up for any player, and getting better every season. Quietly talks some junk throughout any given league night, but usually backs it up. Always a threat on any league night and usually a tough out in the playoffs. And he coined one of the best nicknames ever - Reck-Less-A-Dandon!
Chris "Monkey" Bleistine (AKA Monkey, Sweet, sweet Monkey, and of course - Oh, Monkey!) - One of only 3 remaining original members of the SJBHL. Owner of the infamous "Monkey Shot" (the deep slapper from your own goal line) and several other deceptively sneaky moves, Monkey is another foe who can beat any player in the league on any given night. But, he can lose to any player too, if he doesn't bring his "A" game. Monkey is scarcer and scarcer this days and may soon be on the Endangered Species List...poor Monkey...there is a concerted effort to save this noble creature - one only hopes it isn't too late...
Dan Pettit (AKA - Reck-Less-A-Dandon, Dirty Dan, and several others not fit to print) - The FASTEST man with the rods in his hands. One of the best overall defensive players in the league, mainly because he is never out of position and is flat out faster to the puck then anyone else on most nights. His offense can struggle at times to put up goals, and slower players in particular can frustrate his game, but he presents lots of match-up problems for the top players in the league and he too is ever expanding his offensive playbook. Dan has made great strides with is dome work in every league season and he is legit threat for a top 3 finish in any league season.
Glenn Curtis (AKA - VB, the Village Boy) - former Foosballer who is still a newcomer to the dome, Glenn has improved his play almost every night. He has beaten several players considered more skilled than he is (though that label might not stick for long the way he is improving), and his offense and defense have both improved dramatically from when he first clutched his long stick (winger, you sickos!). Glenn also is the architect of this website!!!
Joe Tornatore (AKA - The Painter) - entered the league in winter/spring '08. Joe struggled some in his 1st season adjusting to the speed of the SJBHL Chexx tables, but he hit a little stride in the playoffs that year and won some series. He usually picks up his game come playoff time and more often than not ends up with a higher playoff finish than regular season finisht. Despite being inflicted with perhaps the WORST luck ever seen under the done, his game looks to only improve with more game play. And NO ONE does a better job at painting bubble hockey players!!! Check out his YouTube video on the front page of this website!!!
JG (AKA JG) - SJBHL owner and commissioner. Has several 1st place titles and a bunch of 2nd place crowns. Always at the top of the league standings. Consistency can be lacking, especially on defense, but he can score goals with anyone. Maybe more offensive moves than anyone else in the league, and often only the sweet Old Chub can make them make sense under the dome. Uses "the Enchanter" and the "Monkey" and the "Driving Range" and the "O.P.P." and the "O.P.S." and a host of others...
John Power (AKA - JP) - Table Hockey Aficionado in every sense of the word! Runs his own Custom Coleco Leagues and Tournaments; runs his own Benej Leagues and Tournaments; plays in Stiga Leagues and Tournaments; and still finds time for the world of Chexx! Brings his vast knowledge of table hockey and how to play the game to the bubble, where it translates into wins for him as often as not. Geography inhibits his attendance at more league nights, but if he ever attends more often expect his stats to show improvement rapidly - he understands the game of table hockey like no one else in the league, and it may only be a matter of time before the bubble bows to his will...
Larry Jefford (AKA - Christ, Jesus, Our Father, Lord, Savior, etc.) - Yes, he looks a little bit like our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christo. Another relative newcomer to the bubble, he too has progressed his game a long way in a short period of time. A genuine threat to beat any player at any time (ask John and Scott and Brian and Bill...), but consistency still eludes him more often than not. His offense can be a thing of beauty (precision slappers with the right-dman, "footies" from the center), but when it's off even "His" powers can't resurrect a win for "Him." Larry will be a staple in the SJBHL for many years to come...
Marc Krasner (AKA - Krasner) - Another relative newcomer to the league but not to bubble hockey. Krasner may not have played the game in a decade or 2 (definitely 2, old man!) but he has had it all begin to come back to him. He among all league members is the most adept at imposing his style of game play on an opponent. Marc likes to slow the game down and force you to make every possession count, and he has had some success with that strategy. He is a sound defender and has enough offensive skills to contend with most any player in the league. The more he plays the better he'll be.
Scott Storck (AKA - Storcky) - 2003 Bud Light Bubble Boys Doubles Play Pennsylvania State Champion and National Finalist. SJBHL '07 summer/fall League Champion in his only playoff tournament. The most technically sound player in the league, bar none. Only does a small handful of offensive moves - that's all he needs to win about 90% of his games. And one of the best overall defensive players in the league - fast, always in the right position at the right time. A win over Scott is well-earned indeed!
Jimmy Schwartz (AKA - the Schwartzinator, Hurricane Schwartz, but perhaps most aptly - "the future") - joined the league in the summer/fall 2008 season, and a fixture ever since. This kid's game improved every week he came out, due in no small part to coming under the teachings of Bill Brooks. He adopted some of Bill's patented moves, then stole the "longstickman-backpass-to-the-rightdefenseman" move from Scott Storck and his game exploded! He became an opponent to fear and loathe, adding some much needed energy to the SJBHL. His battles with Dan and Brian are always fierce, and he has steadily moved up into the league elite.
Jason James (AKA Jaybird) - the SJBHL doesn't always see Jason every season but he has been a fixture in the SJBHL and is always one of the top players in the league. A very different style of play offensively from other players, with lots of bank shots and tough angle moves that are very tough to stop when they are working correctly, giving other players fits! He looks to be seen more often in future league seasons.
Jim Bernard (AKA Jimmy B) - 2003 Bud Light Bubble Boy Doubles Play New Jersey State Champion and National Finalist. One of the original SJBHL members from 2004. Another solid all around player who's specialty is defense but who can put the biscuit in the basket with any player on the ice. Doesn't get to play as much bubble as he used to, and his league standing has suffered a little in recent seasons, but he is always a player to be reckoned with...
Bill Michini - League newcomer in 2009, this guy has some experience playing in "Bubble Boys" events in PA/NJ. Has the skills to cause even the best players in the league serious fits when his game is on. Bill also seems cursed by the bubble gods at times - he has had to endure multiple bouts with the worst luck in bubble hockey this side of Joe Tornotore! This guys rings up O/T losses like nobody's business! But that just means he is 1 or 2 goals away from a whole lottta "w's" in the future - watch out for this guy making a jump in the standings in the future league seasons.
Lib Spector (AKA - the White Russian). Lib is another newcomer to the SJBHL as of 2009. He has seen his game improve greatly in each subsequent league season, and much like JG he likes to steal other player's moves and use them against them! And use them well! Lib might be poised in 2010 or 2011 to make some serious noise in the league heirarchy...
